An Iraqi national youth and his father who were planning to reach Europe by air was deported toady by the immigration and emigration officials at the Bandaranike airport at Katunayaka.
Both suspects have tried to use a forged passport of Dominican Republic to enter Sri Lanka.
The 18 year old suspect had reached Colombo by a flight belonging to Fly Dubai airlines and had submitted the forged passport and other documents to the immigration emigration counter at the airport.
The officials at the counter were suspicious of the documents and handed over the documents to the airport boarder surveillance unit. Afterwards had found out that the bio data of the passport was forged and had wrong information.
Afterwards the officials had learned that the father if the youth too had arrived to Sri Lanka after questioning the youth. Afterwards the immigration and Emigration officers had deported them back to Dubai in the same flight.
Four Iraqi nationals had been arrested last week at the Katunayake airport by the officials of Sri Lankan airlines while they were attempting fly to Europe after transiting from Sri Lanka. The Iraqi nationals had been arrested at the departure terminal and have been handed over to Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police.
