Two Sri Lankan nationals who were hiding in Rameswaram of Tamil Nadu (TN) after leaving the island illegally were taken into custody by TN police authorities, according to Indian reports.
The Indian authorities also tracked the boat believed to be used by the two individuals to reach Rameswaram refugee camp from Mannar. Further investigations are underway over the incident.
The new arrest came in the wake of another incident where an individual from Mannar was arrested in TN after he escaped from police custody. He was detained over drug peddling charges in Mannar. Subsequently, he was arrested by Indian authorities and scheduled to be repatriated. (N. Lohathayalan)
