US-based Heart to Heart International has made another donation of urgent medical aid worth approximately US$2.9 million (Rs. 985 million) to the people of Sri Lanka.
The latest donation, the 8th in the series of such aid since last year, includes a large volume of urgent medicines for cancer, kidney, pancreatitis and brain diseases, the Sri Lanka Embassy in the US announced.
This package of medicines arrived in the island by air on Thursday October 26. The Heart to Heart International has also borne the cost of air freight and other transportation costs.
This organisation has already donated medical aid to Sri Lanka worth $53 million (over Rs. 13 billion).
