Veteran singer and musician Prof. Sangeeth Nipun Sanath Nandasiri passed away this morning.
He was 81 years of age at the time of his death.
Born on February 15, 1942 in Gothatuwa, Prof. Nandasiri was only 13 when he first appeared on the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) as a singer in 1955.
An award winning singer, musician and music director, his contribution to music spanned more than six decades.
He was also the Chancellor of the University of Visual and Performing Arts.
His funeral arrangements are to be notified later.
