A suspect wanted for murder committed in Mathurata has been arrested by police in Galenbindunuwewa.
The suspect was taken into custody yesterday (17) and further inquires led police to uncover that he was being sought in connection with a murder committed last year.
The 39-year-old suspect, a resident of Mathurata, had been sought in connection with a murder committed on March 9 last year, where a person was hacked to death with an ax in Wellagiriya, Mathurata.
A case filed regarding this murder is currently pending before the Walapane Magistrate's Court.
The suspect is to be produced before the Kahatagasdigiliya Magistrate' Court today. Galenbindunuwewa Police are investigating.
