Showers or thundershowers are expected throughout the day in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces today, the Department of Meteorology said.
Rainfall is also likely in other parts of the island during the evening or night. Heavy showers exceeding 100 mm are forecasted in some areas within the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces.
Additionally, misty mornings are expected across the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and Southern provinces.
The Met. Department urges the public to exercise caution, especially in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall or low visibility caused by mist.
The Department further forecasts the formation of a low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal around November 23 (Saturday).
This system is expected to intensify into a depression over the southwest Bay in the following two days. It may strengthen further and move closer to Sri Lanka’s eastern coast. The public is therefore advised to stay alert to future forecasts and updates issued by the department.
