AG withdraws case against Basil

The Attorney General today withdrew the indictments filed against former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Director General of the Divi Neguma Department Kithsiri Ranawaka for misappropriation of state funds.

The case related to the printing of five million almanacs using Rs.29 million belonging to the Divi Neguma Department. 

Accordingly, the Colombo High Court acquitted the two accused in the case and also lifted the foreign travel ban imposed on them.
