A Defender Jeep belonging to the Sri Lanka Air Force skidded off the road while travelling at high speed in Saliyawewa, Anuradapura last night.
One airman died and another five Air Force personnel were injured in the accident. One injured airman was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital and he is in critical condition.
Police says the Air Force jeep was traveling from Katunayake to Anuradapura Air Force base and tried to overtake a bicycle in the Saliyawewa area. The driver lost his control over the jeep and skidded off the road.
