Sri Lankan Ambassador to Austria, Saroja Sirisena presented credentials to Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen this week, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a press release.
During the occasion at the Hofburg Palace at the Austrian Capital Vienna, President Bellen had lauded Sri Lanka’s position as a global destination for tourists including Austrians.
The newly-appointed Ambassador has served in the capacities of Director General at the Sri Lanka Foreign Service and also the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Since joining the Foreign Service in 1998, Ms Sirisena has served as Sri Lanka’s Consul General to Mumbai and had also held positions at Sri Lanka’s Missions in Geneva, Brussels, and Paris.
She is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, Australia and has completed post-graduate studies at the École nationale d’administration in France. She is a past pupil of Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo.
