The cabinet of ministers have decided not to extend the term of the Anti Corruption Committee Secretariat.
Accordingly, around 400 files being investigated by the Secretariat have been handed over to the Financial Crimes Investigation Division(FCID) while the police officers attached to the Secretariat have also been called to report to police stations.
Meanwhile, JVP spokesperson Vijitha Herath at a press conference today charged that the government had taken steps to close down the Secretariat since the corruption of the new government were being revealed.
He stressed that activities of the Secretariat should be continued further and proper legal action should be taken against the perpetrators.
He added that they would raise their voices against the decision and would lead the public against the close down of the Secretariat.
