A stock of unexploded ordnance believed to have belonged to the LTTE were uncovered from Ambagamam in Kilinochchi yesterday. The stock of ammunition was discovered in a wooded area that once housed an LTTE base. Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) personnel from the Kilinochchi SLAF base made the discovery following a tip-off.
The recovered ammunition stocks comprised of four unexploded rounds of 120mm mortars, a 120mm artillery shell weighing 16 kilograms and a number of mortar casings.
The SLAF said steps will be taken to defuse the ordnance.
