The case filed against the Chairman of Avant Garde (Pvt) Ltd. and former Chairman of Rakna Lanka Security over a Rs 35.5 million bribe will be heard on February 28.
Avant Garde Chairman Nissanka Senadhipathi and the former Chairman of Ranka Lanka Security Retired Major General Palitha Fernando have been accused of giving and taking a Rs 3.55 million bribe.
The case was filed by the Bribery and Corruption Commission against the suspects on 47 counts. The charge sheet has already been handed over to the defendants.
The Attorney General told court that Mr. Fernando, during his tenure as a public servant had accepted the said bribe during seven financial transactions with Mr. Senadhipathi.
Further, the Director General of the Bribery Commission had also accused the suspect of committing the offence as mentioned in Sections 17,19,21, and 25 of the Bribery Act, between 2012 and 2014.
The case is being heard before High Court Judge Shashi Mahendran.
