The remains of a 30-year old man who had gone missing on February 19 has been found floating in the Maussakele Reservoir today (Feb 21).
The deceased has been identified as P. Madusanka Liyanage a resident of Maskeliya.
A complaint was lodged by the family of the deceased at the Police following which investigations had commenced to locate the missing individual.
Police personnel had decided to search the reservoir after they had discovered a foot wear belonging to the man on the bank of the reservoir. The assistance of Navy personnel was also obtained to recover the man's body.
The parents of the deceased had told Police that their son had left home at night on January 19 after receiving a phone call. Accordingly, investigations are being carried out to determine whether the man was pushed into the reservoir by another individual.
A magisterial inquest will be carried out on the remains of deceased in Hatton. Maskeliya Police are investigating further into the incident.
