An individual has died after being struck by a wooden pole during a brawl in Monaragala yesterday (Jul 26).
Police said the incident had occured when two drunk persons had engaged in fisticuffs during a wedding ceremony.
The victim has been identified as 42-year old Ajith Nishantha, a resident of Gadolbedda, Monaragala.
The person who had attacked the victim has been taken into police custody.
Further investigations continue.
