Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera has written to President Maithripala Sirisena seeking a presidential pardon for Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Gnanasara Thero.
In his letter to the President, the Minister of Buddhasasana and Wayamba Development had drawn reference to the letters submitted by the Maha Nayaka Theros, the Chief Custodian of the Dalada Maligawa and the Hindu Federation President Nara T. Arukannan who had also requested for a presidential pardon.
Former Minister and leader of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) Douglas Devenanada was arrested by the Criminal investigation Department (CID) today.
