The strict implementation of the lane system for traffic, including the bus-lane system, in the mornings and evenings has come into effect in Colombo from today, Police said.
Accordingly, the programme was implemented from 6 am today four three hours and will be reinforced from 4 pm until 7 pm.
The scheme is being implemented from parliament junction to Kollupitiya, from Moratuwa to Fort, from the Kelaniya bridge along baseline road upto Kirulapone and from Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda to pittala junction (Colombo 7).
Police said they were expecting to take action against those violating the laws from tomorrow.
The bus-lane system was first introduced on a concept of former Megapolis Minister Champika Ranawaka, but police failed to continue with the system.
