Cabinet approval has been granted to appoint Pasan Ratnayake as the new Controller General of the Immigration and Emigration Department.
Ratnayake, a senior state administrative official, had previously served as Additional Controller General at the Department since 2017.
The post of Controller General had fallen vacant for two months after the transfer of Nihal Ranasinghe from that position to the post of Education Secretary.
Accordingly, Ratnayake had served as the Acting Controller General before his appointment as the Immigration Chief.
