The recording of more witness statements in the case filed against former minister Basil Rajapaksa and four others has been fixed for July 18 by the Colombo High Court.
High Court judge R. Gurusinghe requested another date to hear the case as the state counsel was unable to be present for the hearing and was appearing for another case at the Supreme Court at the time.
The former minister and three others have been accused of misappropriating Rs 2991 million in the implementation of the 'Divi Negmua' welfare programme during the former government.
Former Secretary to the Economic Development Ministry Dr. Nihal Jayathilaka, former Director General and the former Deputy Director General of the Divi Neguma department Kithsiri Ranawaka and Bandula Thilakasiri are the other suspects in the case.
