CEB engineers launch work-to-rule campaign

The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers' Union (CEBEU) says it will commence a work-to-rule campaign from today (8). 

The campaign has been launched due to a protracted dispute between the CEB and the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL), the power sector regulator, over the country's long term power generation plan. 

With the work-to-rule campaign in effect island-wide, the union has warned it could cause intermittent power failures and even power cuts throughout the island. 

The CEBEU is calling on the Government to resolve the dispute by approving the power generation plan recommended by the CEB.
