The investigation pertaining to the murder of senior journalist and the founder Editor of 'Sunday Leader' Lasantha Wickramathunge has been handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) after eight years, police said. Police spokesperson Ajith Rohana said one of the suspects arrested died in custody while other has been released on bail. In January 2009 Lasantha Wickramathunge was assassinated by unidentified individuals when he was going to work.
Customs have detected 228 mobile phones and tabs valued at over Rs 30 million left behind in the duty free shopping complex at the Banaranaike International Airport today, Customs officials said.
