The Colombo Chief Magistrate today (Feb 05) turned down a travel request made by Perpetual Treasuries (Ltd.) Chairman Geoffrey Aloysious to travel to Singapore. However, court permitted leave to travel to India.
Previously, Mr. Aloysious, father of Arjun Aloysious - one of the main suspects in the Bond Scam, had filed a request to travel to Singapore and India since his passport was impounded. However, court permitted travel only to India from May 13 to 20.
The request to travel to Singapore which he claimed was for medical treatment purposes was rejected since sufficient documents were not presented before court in this regard. The CID too had told court that Mr. Aloysious could not be allowed to travel overseas since he had not submitted the relevant documents.
Accordingly, the lawyer representing Geoffrey Aloysious had told ocurt that the relevant documents would be presented before court on February 25.
