The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) has instructed the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) to enforce legal measures on over 2000 illegal constructions in the district.
While calling on the CMC to take legal action against illegal lands, houses and businesses that are operating in the area, the COPA also instructed the CMC to submit a report on the measures it has taken to remove such constructions from 2012 to 2016.
These instructions were included in this year's first COPA report which was tabled before Parliament by COPA Chairman Lasantha Alagiyawanna yesterday (Feb 21).
Instructions were given to a total of 19 state bodies in the report.
