Counting underway: First results expected shortly

The Elections Commission says 65 per cent of eligible voters had cast their ballots at the 2018 Local Government Election held today. 

Voting for 340 Local Government bodies commenced at 7.00am today and concluded at 4.00pm. Counting of ballots began at most counting centres about 5.00pm. 

The Elections Commission further says that release of official results of the election can be expected from 8.30pm.
