A 71-year-old male from Panagoda, a 52-year-old male from Colombo 8, a 71-year-old female from Colombo 2, a 44-year-old male from Colombo 2 and a 49-year-old female from Bandaragama died from COVID-related complications on Sunday (20), the Government Information Department said.
Most deaths were due to COVID triggered pneumonia and lung infections. The death toll from the virus has reached 176.
Another 592 people were tested positive for the virus on Sunday bringing the total positive cases from the Divulapitiya, Peliyagoda and prison clusters to 33,590.
