Southern Provincial Council Minister D.V. Upul, who was arrested over controversial comments he made about the FCID, has been further remanded until June 15 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court. Upul was arrested on June 08 after he was summoned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to record a statement for allegedly asking people to “stone to death” officials of the Financial Crime Investigation Division (FCID). The CID today informed the court that inquiries are ongoing to locate the unedited raw footage containing the politician’s statement in question.
