Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in his New Year message has said the dawn of 2019 is a new beginning for the people’s lives and this country.
“We should set off on a new journey that ensures the strengthening of our country’s democracy and the independence of the Judiciary while also stabilising national, religious, and political unity in the country” Mr. Jayasuriya said in his special message.
He added that the diverse viewpoints of several individuals are a sign of an active society. On the same lines, he added that our country is fortunate to have resolved issues in a peaceful manner while earning the respect of the international society despite the existence of a multitude of opinions.
Further, Speaker Jayasuriya said he hopes that all entities would come together and arrive at a consensus in order to combat the challenges faced by our country.
He signed off by calling on all citizens to be a part of this journey filled with new hopes and aspirations.
