The Meteorology Department announced that showery conditions may enhance across the island until tomorrow due to the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Issuing a weather forecast the Met. Department noted that the depression is 950 km away from Trincomalee.
Met Department foecasts heavy rain fall above 150 mm to be expected at some places in Western, North-western, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara districts.
Fairly strong gusty winds can also be expected in the Western, Southern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
The Department kindly requests the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
