DIG Nalaka de Silva who was remanded over the alleged VIP assassiantion plot has been further remanded until January 30.
The CID today (Jan 21) informed court that it hopes to obtain statements from MPs Namal Rajapaksa, Wimal Weerawangsa and his wife in the near future.
Police also informed court that the recording of statements from these individuals were essential since Marceli Thomas, the Indian National who has also been arrested in the case, had claimed to have met with these individuals.
Meanwhile, the Attorney representing DIG Silva had told court that the Police have failed to arrest Namal Kumara - Direrctor (Operations) of the Anti-corruption force, inspite of revelations being made on his fake certificate which he used to join the Army.
The Attorney further claimed that Mr. Kumara could be considered as as a criminal with perks.
However, the CID refuted such claims by stating that it was the CID itself which exposed the fake certificate of Mr Kumara.
