Police arrested 89 suspects over the possession of narcotics during a party organised through social media platform Facebook at a hotel in Hingurakgoda yesterday (Feb 03).
The suspects have been identified as 19, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 45-year olds and residents of several districts across the country.
Police officers had also seized heroin, cannabis, kerala cannabis, and 'Ice' which were in the possession of the suspects.
Further investigations continue.
Former Speaker and NPP MP Asoka Ranwala was arrested today following a road accident in the Denimulla area of Sapugaskanda last night, police said.
