Enterprise Sri Lanka – Entrepreneurs Paradise Loan Scheme initiated by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera, will launch an islandwide mobile service to begin in the Matara - Weligama area tomorrow (March 23) in a bid to accelerate the benefits of the scheme.
As a first step all state institutions attached to the scheme will hold a full day mobile service that would be attended by Ministers Samaraweera, Malik Samaraweera and John Amaratunga who will grace the occasion to mark the first phase of the mobile service.
The main objective of the scheme is to provide the youth with entrepreneurial interests to start businesses or engage in self-employment, and to be able to offer loans at affordable interest rates, a statement from the Finance Minstry said.
According to the Finance Ministry last year alone the scheme disbursed loans amounting upto Rs 6000 million to more than 30,000 youths. Loan amounts starting from Rs 100,000 and upwards to a maximum amount of Rs 750 million could be obtained through this programme
Under Enterprise Sri Lanka, the government will be offering 15 loan schemes under the categories of; interest subsidy loan schemes, donor funded refinance loan schemes and financial and non-financial support programmes.
