Five persons have been arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) for illegally removing artifacts from an archaeological site in Kurunegala.
The suspects were arrested at a forest reserve in Galgamuwa with four detonators and pieces of dynamite.
It is believed that these individuals had used these explosives to remove the artefacts from the site.
Further, STF personnel had also discovered a drill machine which were in the possession of the suspects along with some old lamps.
Police are conducting further investigations into the suspects.
