Five suspects who were arrested over allegedly delivering extremist sermons while maintaining close links with Easter Sunday attack ringleader Zahran Cassim have been remanded until June 4.
The suspects who were arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act on May 24 were detained for 72 hours before being produced before the Kebithigollewa Magistrates courts today (May 27).
Mohamed Baba Nawfer - a Development Assistant at the Horowapathana Divisional Secretariat, Zainudeen Thalifathullah - a Principal of an Arabic College in Kebithigollewa, Zainul Abdeen Irshan - a teacher at an Arabic College in Kantale, Lebbe Thambi Jasmin - an assistant teacher in Weerasolai, and Noorge Zakariya were the suspects who were arrested.
