Three fishermen and a painter have been arrested by the Police Child and Women's Bureau over charges of kidnapping and abuse of three children in Weligama.
Following a tip off the Police were able to rescue the children being held by the group. The three children who are reported to be between 13 to 14 years of age, are said to have resided in close proximity to each other’s homes.
The two children are reported to have been abused at the residences of two fishermen in Modara and Palane.
The Police Child and Women's Bureau in Matara are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
