Four Buddhist monks who were issued with arrest warrants on August 31 for charges of damaging public property were released on bail
Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne issued an order for the monks to be released following the granting of surety bail of Rs. 150,000 each.
The monks were also ordered to record statements before the Fort Police Station.
A case was filed before the Colombo Magistrates’ Court against the group’s involvement during a protest opposite the Presidential Secretariat in 2016.
