Increasing public servant's wages, implementing the recommendations of the Salaries Commission's report, and re-implementing the tax policy and vehicle permit schemes were among the GMOA's suggestions for this year's budget.
Issuing a press release, the GMOA listed out ten recommendations for this year's budget which will be submitted before Parliament in March.
An increase in wages of public servants without the violation of the government's national wage policy was one of the suggestions of the GMOA.
Accordingly, the GMOA suggests that the wage revisions should take place on a ratio of 1 :12 instead of the existing 1 : 4 ratio that is used to increase the salaries of public servants.
Further the release called for the report submitted by the Special Salaries Commission to be made public and also urged its implementation from this year onwards.
The association also called for the re-introduction of the pension scheme that was removed from the 2016 budget.
The tax policy used in encouraging trade unionists to remain in the country must also be made public while also removing its unfavourable clauses, the release noted.
In addition, the GMOA also suggested the re-implementation of the vehicle permit scheme.
