The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) will launch a countrywide strike on March 24, if they do not receive their due salaries and allowances revised by the 2015 budget, GMOA's Assistant Secretary Dr. Nalinda Herath said. Addressing a special media briefing held at the GMOA headoffice yesterday Dr. Herath said that the GMOA would decide soon whether it would be a token strike or continue for the rest of the days. It would depend on the response of the Government, he said. Dr. Herath said the relevant documents should be released before March 24 by the Secretaries of the Health and Indigenous Medicine Ministry and Finance Ministry with the approval of the Finance Minister in order to avoid launching the countrywide strike on March 24.
