The Government is to impose a ban on the import of dehydrated fruits and vegetables in view to protect local farmers and cultivators.
State Minister of Rural Development Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena told Times Online that the decision was taken by the Committee on Cost of Living during a meeting Presided over by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa recently.
He said the decision was taken as the import of dehydrated fruits and vegetables were affecting the local farmers.
Dehydrated mangoes and pineapple are among the items currently imported to Sri Lanka.
