The cabinet of ministers yesterday decided to procure more scanners that would assist in conducting security scans on the baggage of travellers.
Minister of Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranatunga had submitted a proposal to this effect after considering the need to ensure the saftey of passengers in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday Attacks.
Accordingly, equipment which would facilitate security checks would be installed at the Bandaranaike International Airport once purchased.
