Customs trade unions have decided to call off their strike action following the reinstatement of P.S.M. Charles as the Director General of Customs.

A hartal campaign was carried out by wholesale traders in Pettah today (Feb 05) owing to the high losses faced as a result of the customs strike.
Customs officials staged a strike action for the seventh consecutive day to protest against the removal of Customs Director General P.S.M. Charles.
However, cabinet granted approval today (Feb 05) to reinstate Ms. Charles in office.
