A kidney racket was busted in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday after Indian Police received a tip-off. According to Indian media reports the gang involved in the racket were able to rope in recepients from countries including Sri Lanka.
According to the Times of India, the recepients of these organs in countires such as Sri Lanka and Turkey were roped in after gullible donors were trapped and forced to donate their kidneys and livers.
Media reports claim the racket had been flourishing for six years and involved three Indian states including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and West Bengal.
