The investigation into the the light aircraft found at the Narahenpita Economic Centre has been handed over to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), local media reported.
Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana quoted by media said the CCD has already recorded statements.
The light aircraft was found in a warehouse at Narahenpita Economic Centre recently.
Investigations revealed that the aircraft was gifted by Veteran film director Chandran Ratnam to Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
According to the Civil Aviation regulations, no aircraft can fly within the country without a license.
However, information regarding this aircraft’s license or how the aircraft was placed at the warehouse have not been revealed as yet.
On a tip-off to Police, this 2-seater light aircraft was found in a store at the Narahenpita Economic Center last Tuesday.
