A journalist had been assaulted in Maligawatte yesterday night and his Media Identity Card was taken away by three unidentified individuals . Naushad Amithis is attached to the Wijaya Newspapers as a sports journalist. Mr Amith said that he was treated at Eye Hospital for a bruised eye. He said that one of his friends accompanying his friends accompanying him had been speaking in support of Opposition Candidate Maithreepala Srisena and got into agreement. He added that he only intervened to resolve the dispute when he was assaulted. He claimed that the there were policeman close to the incident, that had not intervened and they later told him that men belonged to VVIP Security Division
