The Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by Supreme Court Judge Sarath De Abrew was withdrawn today following the ascertain that there was no imminent threat of arrest of the judge. Appearing on behalf of Justice Abrew, President’s Counsel Manohara De Silva said if he is not posed with any threat there is no need to process the FR petition further. The Bench consisted of Chief Justice S. Sripavan, Justice Priyantha Jayawardana, and Justice Anil Gunaratna. Assistant Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda represented the Attorney General department. Last week Justice Abrew surrendered to the Mount Lavinia Police on and was granted bail by the magistrate.
