A second inquiry committee to investigate into the harrasment of the Agunukolapelassa inmates was appointed today by Justice and Prison Reforms Minister, Thalatha Athukorale. The team is expected to present their findings in a report to the Minister before Jan 25.
The members of the second investigative team include
01.P.M. Nanayakkara, Senior Assistant Secretary to the President
02. B.M.M.M. Basanayake, Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Public Administration and Disaster Management
03. G.D.A.Swarnalatha, Senior Assistant Secretary to Ministry of Justice and Prison Reforms
The memeber of the above team will conduct an inspection of the Angunakolapelessa Prison and begin their investigations from tomorrow.
Meanwhile the first inquiry committee appointed under the instructions of the Minister of Justice to carry out investigations into the abuse of the inmates, has already commenced investigations and the report is expected to be submitted to Parliament on Monday.
