Former Deputy Minister Premalal Jayasekara, Provincial Councillor Nilantha Jayakody and Kahawatta Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Vajira Darshana were further remanded today till Jan 26 on charges of murder. Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana speaking to local media said the three suspects were remanded further for committing murder of a supporter who was decorating an election stage in Kahawatta on January 5. On January 5, the Pelmadulla Magistrate issued an arrest warrant on Jayasekara over his alleged involvement in the shooting incident at a venue of an election rally in Kahawatta. He was subsequently arrested by the police in Aluthgama and remanded until 20 January by the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court.
