Mahindananda released on bail

The Colombo High Court today released former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage on bail in connection with the case filed against him on charges of failing to disclose the source of funds used to purchase a house in Borella for Rs.27 million. 

MP Aluthgamage had allegedly purchased the house during his tenure as Sport Minister in the previous Government. Indictments against Mr. Aluthgamage were also submitted today by the Attorney General's Department when the case was taken up. 

The MP was released on a cash bail of Rs.200, 000 and two sureties of Rs.500, 000 each.
