Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe assumed duties as the Director-General of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) today (Jan 3).
Upon assuming duties, Maj. Gen. Ranasinghe said he expects all employees of the DMC to discharge their duties in an accountable manner and to work towards minimizing the damages caused by natural calamities.
Maj. Gen Ranasinghe who has served for 39 years in the military is an old boy of Ananda College Colombo.
He holds degrees from Sri Lanka's Defence Services College, Pakistan's National Defence University, and China's National Defence University.
In addition, he has also obtained a post-graduate degree at Pakistan's National Defence University.
