Motion to cut funding to ministers passed

The motion to cut off budgetary allocations to Cabinet, State and Deputy Ministers appointed under the Rajapaksa Government has been pased in Parliament with 122 MPs voting in favour of the motion. 

The motion prevents ministry secretaries from releasing state funds for Cabinet, State and Deputy Ministers and their personal staff. Funding cuts will apply to salaries, air travel and other privileges and expenses.  

The UNP, JVP and TNA voted for the motion. There were no votes cast against the motion as the UPFA MPs boycotted today's Parliament sittings as well. 

Speaker then adjourned Parliament till 10.30 am on December 5.
