A group of nine parliamentarians have submitted a motion calling for a Parliamentary Select Committee to be established to inquire into the MPs on the UPFA nomination list who thereafter joined the SLPP.
The motion which was submitted to Speaker Karu Jayasuriya urged him to refrain from recognising Mahinda Rajapaksa or any other individual who would be investigated by the committee, as parliamentarians.
Accordingly, the motion suggested that the committee be appointed by the Speaker but according to Standing Order 25 should include 11 members to inquire into the parliamentarians.
