President Maithripala Sirisena has given Navy Commander Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne a six month service extension effective from today. He was appointed as the 20th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy in July 2015.
Vice Admiral Wijegunaratne joined the navy on November 1, 1980. He was instrumental in forming the Navy's elite Special Boat Squadron (SBS).
